The Rotary Club of Westmount is Westmount’s oldest service club, dedicated to community initiatives since 1930. Over the years, it has participated in local and global projects totalling over $6,000,000.
The conception, construction, and stewardship of Manoir Westmount stands as an exceptional achievement among the Club’s many initiatives.

The Club continues to fulfill the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self” in its ongoing projects.

In 1972, an assembly of members of The Rotary Club of Westmount explored the community’s needs. A Club committee under Robert Layton determined that senior citizens’ accommodations were woefully lacking in Westmount.

Within the year, the Club created a plan to establish a residence of quality and affordability in Westmount. This undertaking invited participation by Rotarians, churches and community groups and was to become a major undertaking.

On October 12, 1979, the building was officially opened by Lieutenant Governor Jean-Pierre Côté.

Through the years, it has stood as a shining example among seniors’ residences. In 2021, Manoir Westmount was awarded the Medal of The National Assembly of Quebec in recognition of its “devotion and determination in caring for seniors.”
