Services and Activities

The Rotary Club of Westmount, Westmount’s only service Club, created Manoir Westmount in 1979 as part of its tradition of serving. Thanks to the efforts of Rotarians and the generosity of donors, the building’s capital costs have been provided for, so monthly fees are all inclusive and surprisingly affordable. They include private accommodation, daily housekeeping, personal laundry, meals, snacks and recreation. There is a professional health care person on duty 24 hours a day for emergencies and consultation. If necessary, medications may be managed.

Each floor has a cosy lounge with colour TV and kitchenette where snacks are available to residents at all times. There is a games and billiards room, a library with computers and Internet access, a beauty parlour and on- site banking. There are also mobile boutiques, a small shop, a seamstress and foot care services. For those residents who are still driving, indoor parking is available.

Manoir Westmount has a beautiful and private outdoor patio which provides a quiet oasis where afternoon tea, BBQs, and happy hour are often served.

Manoir Westmount employs a qualified full-time Leisure Supervisor who with the help of part-time staff and volunteers provide a wide range of activities. Some of the more popular activities include Bingo, exercises, word games, movies, lectures, outings, and concerts. Also very popular is the handicrafts group which meets weekly throughout the year. Their efforts culminate with a bazaar in November. Ecumenical services are held at The Manoir on a weekly basis and social functions are held in conjunction with major holidays.

Safety and Security

The safety and convenience of its residents was the prime design factor of Manoir Westmount. The 125 units allow privacy while state-of-the-art sprinklers, smoke, fire and emergency systems ensure safety. Emergency call phones linked to the front desk, are located in each unit and at strategic places in public rooms and hallways, for quick emergency communications. A staff member is at the front desk at all times and a Nurse or Registered Nursing Assistant is on duty 24 hours per day for emergencies and consultation.

Wide, carpeted corridors with safety handrails lead to smooth operating elevators. Low-level controls make elevators easy to operate. Residents have access to all parts of the Manoir Westmount complex – the elegant dining room, popular private outdoor patio, expansive foyer, lounges, and activity and billiard rooms. By indoor passage residents can reach the Westmount Library, Victoria Hall, and the greenhouses.

Each floor has rooms and suites and features a cosy lounge with TV and kitchenette. Manoir Westmount has a wide variety of leisure and recreational programs as well as weekly ecumenical services.

Each large bright unit is carpeted for slip-free mobility. All bathrooms are private, are handrail equipped and have another important feature – the emergency nurse call. Private telephone, cable TV and Internet can be connected. Some rooms and suites have balconies.
